Divine strategies for Evangelism
It is just after 03h00 - 27.1.98

Strategy is managing change! Strategic conversations are the key to evangelism. Learn to be a good listener and know what to say to persuade the critical mass of people that you can influence in your life. Know our purpose and understand what you are required to do. Our purpose is to extend the kingdom of God on earth and your mission is to be an active witness to those around you.

I had a glimpse of Gods strategy for us concerning evangelism

As I prepared the sermon on the Kings carriage, I realised that Philip, one of Jesus disciples was a lover of horses.  That is what his name meant.

Look up meanings of the 12 Apostles names - tip - to see how Jesus fished men and then taught them to become fishers of men.  He taught them to do what He could do and then sent them out to do it.  He gave them power and authority to act on His behalf.  He sent them out to prepare the way before Him.  They first went wherever He Himself would later go.  When He arrived, the people came to Him.  They knew about Him, through the disciples.  They spread His fame abroad.  This was Jesus strategy for evangelism.

Our ministry to reach out should be no less and no more, not with our trust in a man made method, but in a divine discipleship strategy which has everlasting results. Not merely making converts, but actually enlarging Gods kingdom in the hearts of men, women and children.  Not merely getting people to make decisions for Christ, but actually changing lives by the glory of God, turning them into living epistles for the world to read.  Taking the chief of sinners and making of them monuments of His Grace.

I realised this also when someone told me: When I saw so and so in your church and saw how he had changed, I knew that God was working in this place, because I went to school with him and I could see the difference in his life.  That is the key to evangelism: a changed life.

Secondly, we need to create more opportunities, at every meeting for people to testify of their salvation, not merely the goodness of God in their lives. Everyone must be ready at any time to tell how Jesus saved his or her eternal soul.  It need not be longwinded.

Sinners do not go to church: that is why we must go towards them! Contact God on behalf of men and then contact men on behalf of God! Tell them your story of how you got saved. Expect the Holy Spirit to convict them while you are speaking. Evangelism without prayer is like an explosive without a detonator and prayer without evangelism is like a detonator without an explosive!

God’s love and man’s need must meet in Christ’s Sacrifice.

Acts 16:9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”

Luke 24:49 “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

The Holy Spirit is given that you may become a powerful witness.

Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Prayer is the key to loosening the bonds of Satan and the hold of the world on people’s lives:

Acts 13:1-4 Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

Questions every believer has to ask:

1.                 If the first church operated as you do how much would it have grown?

2.                 Do you bring people to church or merely invite and hope they will come?

3.                 Are you aware of being sent? Only sent ones have boldness!(Romans 10:14-21)

4.                 Will someone else get to know Jesus through watching your life?

5.                 Are you prepared to let someone you know go to hell if you don’t tell about Jesus’ sacrifice?

The Word multiplied through the disciples’ witnessing

Acts 6:7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Matthew 22:18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?

Luke 14:21-23 “So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’22 “And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’23 “Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

The Lord tells us to use force to bring people in!
